We got to Caraz through a road known as Cañon del Pato, a massive canyon alongside a river that leads to the Cordillera Blanca mountain range. Going from sea level to a few thousand meters high was not easy on us and we had to find a place to acclimatize before heading up to the peaks. A smily man named Jaime knocked on our window to tell us that he had a camping spot on his farm, and so we ended up staying at Camping Guadalupe. It was wonderful to step out of our tent and smell the fresh mountain air… we also got to collect carrots, tomatoes, strawberries, guanabana and potatoes. Happy to be in the Andes :)
