A quick jaunt to the US

We’ve been quiet on the blog front for the last couple of weeks due to a jaunt to the US to spend time with family. Ike’s grandmother Peggy passed away when we were in St. Johns, Newfoundland, and her memorial celebration was last weekend in Evanston where she grew up. It worked out well that we were basically straight north of Chicago, so the visit wasn’t much of a setback for our trip. We are so happy we were able to make it back and be there for the celebration.
The two weeks spent in the US were rejuvenating, giving me time to reflect on our journey so far and make some changes so it will be even better going forward! As Ike responded when several people asked how the trip was going: “It’s an 8 out of 10.” Basically, we weren’t quite prepared with all the work involved with being on the rode for so long and with packing up all our stuff so often!
So here’s to making the trip a 10 out of 10 (or better!). So far I think we are off to the right start. We’ve been driving longer distances on “driving days,” which leaves some other days for just relaxing. Mostly this is due to the nature of being in western Canada where everything is more spread out and so distances are naturally greater.
Here are a few pictures of us enjoying our time with family while back in the states:

And one more pic thrown in for good measure. Check out the note at the bottom of the receipt. ‘MURICA!
